The Soegijapranata Unika Faculty of Computer Science (Fikom Unika) prepares students to face the world of work by holding an activity entitled Internship Fair.
To note, Fikom Unika has two study programs, namely Informatics Engineering and Information Systems.
The Dean of Fikom Soegijpranata Catholic University, Dr. Bernardinus Harnadi MT said, through this forum, his party also wanted to improve students' skills or competencies as provisions before entering the world of work.
"This experiential learning is useful for equipping students before entering the world of work by providing the widest possible cooperation with the world of business and industry. This is at the same time to provide a place for students to study outside the campus," said Harnadi, Thursday 15 December 2022.
He considered that the internship program was one of Fikom's ways of implementing MBKM (Merdeka Learning Kampus Merdeka) activities independently. At the same time the implementation of the SLM (Soegijapranata Learning Model) concept.
"The essence of this concept is that students learn things that are contextual, can implement the knowledge gained in college with real experience in the field," he said.
Ketua Acara Hironimus Leong MKom menyatakan, kegiatan magang ini sudah dijalankan oleh Fikom Unika Soegijapranata sejak 2018. Bahkan sebelum muncul program MBKM dari pemerintah atau Kemendikbudristek.
“Ini sudah menjadi tradisi di Fikom Unika Soegijapranata. Rutin kami lakukan minimal setahun sekali, terkadang sampai dua kali, bergantung banyak sedikitnya mahasiswa yang akan menjalani magang. Pelaksanaan magang dimulai Januari hingga Juni, atau selama enam bulan minimalnya,” kata Hironimus beserta Wakil Ketua Acara, Erdhi Widyarto Nugroho MT.
The Internship Fair will be held for two days, from 15 to 16 December 2022, by presenting seven companies that are ready to collaborate with Unika Soegijapranata to hold internships.
The seven companies involved include MKP Mobile, Buana Online Sejahtera, PT Sarana Pembangunan Jawa Tengah, PT Golektruk Dot Com. Then, PT BFI Finance Indonesia TBK, PT Semis and Pura Group.
Company representatives took turns presenting company profiles, positions, rights and obligations of students to the selection and recruitment process for those that fit the needs of the company.
Students who pass the selection will carry out an internship process for 6 months. They also have the opportunity to continue for the next six months according to the performance evaluation of the partner company.
In the next period, it will be converted into a final assignment course. The faculty then conducts joint evaluations with partner companies to obtain input for curriculum development so that it is suitable and in line with the needs of the industrial world.
