One of the topics discussed at the end of studies in high school is about continuing studies. Even though computers or information technology are the current trend and are unavoidable, searching for computer-related learning materials is very easy to do on the internet. People can learn through blogs, vlogs, online forums, etc. Programming can be learned through Stack Overflow, if you still don't understand people can see tutorials in content shared via Youtube. In addition, there are still many online forums available that can facilitate discussions on certain topics.

Then why do people need to study computers?
After all, now there are many media that facilitate people to learn on their own in a self-taught way. Is there a direct relevance between the presence of various alternative online learning media and the importance of formal computer studies? Can the presence of online learning media replace the role of a lecturer? Will job opportunities in various industries no longer require a formal university degree?
There are no absolute answers to these questions. Each different condition produces different answers. For those who have high independence and discipline, various learning media on the internet, both paid and free, both those that provide diplomas or those that do not, or with a specific time period or with free time, have a higher compatibility.
But there are also many who still need mentors, companions, or discussion partners in learning something new. When we experience difficulties regarding a learning topic, often an experienced mentor can provide direction for us to study a particular topic before proceeding to the topic to be studied. Sometimes the discussions that take place between mentors and study partners also add insight that is not necessarily written in materials on the internet. In fact, often mentors and study partners can be a motivator for us to learn and deepen more complex topics.
From above does not take into account the various experiences that can be gained from activities on campus which can improve soft skills so that our ability becomes more comprehensive in solving problems in our work and related to work relationships in the future. So that in addition to solving problems in programming, we can also improve in a managerial career when we become more skilled and experienced in the world of work.
For example, when we study at SIEGA (siega.id), we don't only learn about programming and business but also hone our writing, speaking, organizing, entrepreneurship, innovation, and critical thinking skills. Generally, students in their first semester are able to produce their own books published through Google, produce mobile applications, market the applications they develop, and form startup businesses. Even though it was often unimaginable at first, these abilities turned out to be important when I graduated later.
The existence of a young but experienced professor at SIEGA can be a role model as well as a friend in maximizing one's potential in the computer field. Apart from that, excellent accreditation can also be one of the considerations in looking at the track record of success in applying expertise in the computer field. Even though everyone can learn self-taught from various materials spread on the internet, the existing ecosystem in the educational environment is still seen as an added benefit.
