UNIKA Soegijapranata Information Systems Lecturer Contributes to International Conference in Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, Socialist Republic of Vietnam – In order to advance science and technology, lecturers from the Information Systems Study Program of Soegijapranata Catholic University Semarang have actively participated in the 7th International Conference on Green Technology and Sustainable Development which was held on July 25-26, 2024. This conference brought together academics and practitioners from various parts of the world to discuss innovations in the field of green technology and sustainable development.

Outstanding Research Contribution from the Information Systems Study Program, UNIKA Soegijapranata

The participation of UNIKA Soegijapranata lecturers in this conference not only strengthens the institution's position in the international arena, but also provides a meaningful contribution to the development of environmentally friendly technology that is relevant to the needs of the global community.

  1. Andre Kurniawan Pamudji : Andre's research entitled "Arduino-Based PET Bottle Plastic Detection Using Camera and Photoelectric Sensor" was one of the highlights of the conference. He presented an Arduino-based solution to detect PET plastic bottles using a combination of cameras and photoelectric sensors. This technology is designed to support more efficient plastic recycling efforts, thereby helping to reduce the negative impact of plastic waste on the environment. In his presentation, Andre emphasized the importance of simple yet effective technology that can be adopted in various regions, especially developing countries.
  2. Prof. Ridwan Sanjaya : As an expert in the field of systems and IoT (Internet of Things), Prof. Ridwan presented a work entitled "Comparative Analysis and Practical Implementation of IoT Communication using HTTP/2 and MQTT" . This study evaluates the performance of two major IoT communication protocols, HTTP/2 and MQTT, in terms of efficiency, latency, and practical application. The findings provide new insights for IoT system developers in choosing the appropriate communication protocol for various applications, including smart cities and home automation devices.
  3. Cahyo Nugroho : In his contribution, Cahyo carries the topic of local tourism development with a study entitled "Tourism Website for Semarang City Using Rapid Application Development and UTAUT Model" . This study combines the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method with the UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) framework to create an informative and easily accessible tourism platform. Cahyo hopes that this solution can increase tourist interest in Semarang City, while supporting the growth of the sustainable tourism sector.
  4. Bernadinus Harnadi : Harnadi’s research titled “Examining Factors Correlating with Social Commerce Behavior in Generation X” provides an in-depth look at online shopping behavior among Generation X. The study identifies factors that drive the generation’s involvement in social commerce activities. In his presentation, Harnadi highlighted the importance of understanding consumer needs and preferences to help businesses design more effective digital marketing strategies.

The participation of these lecturers not only shows the superior quality of research, but also reflects the spirit of the UNIKA Soegijapranata Information Systems Study Program to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals. In addition to presenting research results, the lecturers also held discussions with experts from various countries to explore collaborations that have the potential to produce new innovations in the future.
