The Information Systems Study Program of UNIKA Soegijapranata Semarang has held its 2nd series of activities with the theme 'Sharing Alumni About Lectures and Work Atmosphere' last Thursday, (28/5/2020).
Present as the moderator as well as the person in charge of the event was the Head of the UNIKA Information Systems Study Program (Prodi), Albertus Dwiyoga Widiantoro SKom MKom. In a conversation with the Head of the Information Systems Study Program, Albertus Dwiyoga, it was found out that the background of the activity being held this time was the 2nd Serial activity of a series of serial activities that had been and would be held once a week.
"In this series of activities, we are trying to explore what inputs we can get for the development of the Information Systems Study Program in the future. We also admit that for the early stages, the presenters for this series are still dominated by alumni from the gametechnology program, this is because the gametechnology program is the first batch of our study program, so many students from the gametechnology program graduate first," said Dwiyoga to Times Indonesia, Sunday (31/5/2020).
Dwiyoga said that many alumni of the UNIKA Information Systems Study Program work in the same job, namely game development at well-known companies in Indonesia. So it was tried to gather them together, but of course it was not an easy thing, that's why this series of activities was held so that alternately the alumni could attend to share their experiences in the world of work.
In the 1st series of activities, many explored what the alumni hoped for for the development of the Information Systems Study Program, and there were several inputs that they provided, including an apprenticeship process with quite a long time (3-6 months), holding an exhibition of student-made products , and the existence of new knowledge conveyed by lecturers in lectures.
"With this series of activities, I hope that the experiences shared by these alumni can be well captured by students so that they can add insight and confidence to students that what is their choice of study has definite future prospects as conveyed by alumni," explained Dwiyoga.
So students will get a complete and real picture of the field of work they will be involved in according to their scientific fields such as games, analysis, or programming. And the jobs do exist, it only remains for these students and prospective students to believe and learn with enthusiasm so that what they choose becomes the right choice in the future, he said.
"Especially in the 2nd Series, students and prospective students will get experience sharing from alumni who are continuing their Masters studies in Taiwan, then there are also those who work as programmers who will develop themselves in the field of e-commerce at a company in Jakarta and who works as a programmer in the IT section of an educational institution in the city of Semarang," he explained.
Other efforts made by the Information Systems Study Program UNIKA Soegijapranata Semarang include collaborating with several companies such as PT BCA Tbk, PT Indomarco Group, and MSME startups, with the hope that students can do internships or have the opportunity to work in companies where they complete their internships.
